INFORMATION FOR LANDLORDS AND TENANTS
If you are the landlord of a property in Golden Hills, the staff of the Golden Hills Community Services District (District) would like to notify you that when renting a property, you may want to ensure that your tenant has contacted the District to open an account for water service. If the tenant does not do so, the water account will remain in the property owner’s name, and ultimately the owner of the account (property owner) will be responsible for any unpaid water bills.
If you are the tenant of a property in Golden Hills, when you come to open a water account with the District, we will require that you provide a copy of your lease or rental agreement. Doing so will inform the District who is responsible for the water bill. If the tenant is responsible for the water bill, in addition to the lease or rental agreement, the District will require a $175.00 deposit and a $45.00 application fee. The deposit will be refunded after an account has been paid for 12 months (with no late fees assessed) following the due date of your first water bill. The $45.00 is not refunded and is not considered a “payment” when refunding the deposit.
