COMING TO A METER NEAR YOU – CELLULAR TECHNOLOGY

In the Fall of 2018, the District began testing cellular technology in conjunction with the previously planned replacement of end-of-life meter endpoint registers. Key points about cellular technology include:

• No field collection of reading data; in other words, GHCSD staff does not have to be in the field to actually read the meter.
• Cellular registers will collect a reading every 15 minutes of every day.
• A Customer Portal, allowing customers to monitor their water usage on personal computers, Android, or iOS devices, and set individualized alarms and alerts.

Within the next three years, every endpoint register will be replaced with cellular technology. In the short term, as individual endpoints are replaced, affected customers will receive a letter notifying them of the change, with instructions on how to access the Customer Portal.

The District is constantly exploring ways to use technology and innovation to make our staff more productive, efficient, and responsive to our customers. In the very near future we hope you will find this tool helpful in monitoring your water usage on a daily basis.
